Bolt to GitHub — Temporary Service Disruption (April 2026 Status Update)

Bolt to GitHub — Temporary Service Disruption (April 2026 Status Update)

If you’re a Bolt to GitHub user and you’ve noticed the app isn’t working or the GitHub repository appears unavailable — you’re not alone, and we’re aware of the issue. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s going on and what to expect.

Key Takeaways

  • Bolt to GitHub is temporarily unavailable due to a GitHub-side account review
  • Existing app installations are still in place and have not been removed
  • An appeal has been submitted to GitHub Support
  • We expect this to be resolved within a few business days
  • No action is needed from users

What’s Happening

GitHub’s automated moderation system flagged my developer account as part of a routine review. This has restricted access to the account and all associated content, including the Bolt to GitHub app.

To be clear: no terms were violated. This appears to be a false positive triggered by automated detection — likely related to the app’s growth to over 3,000 installations. Rapid adoption sometimes looks suspicious to automated systems, even when everything is legitimate.

What’s Affected

  • New installations of Bolt to GitHub are currently blocked
  • App configuration changes (the “Configure” button) are unavailable
  • The GitHub repository (mamertofabian/bolt-to-github) is temporarily not visible
  • GitHub Actions on the repository are disabled

What’s NOT Affected

  • Your existing installation — if you already had Bolt to GitHub set up, your installation remains in place. Nothing has been uninstalled or removed from your account.
  • Your repositories and data — nothing on your side has been touched or modified.

What We’re Doing About It

I submitted a reinstatement request to GitHub Support on April 5, 2026, explaining the situation and requesting a manual review. Based on typical response times, we expect this to be resolved within a few business days.

Once the review is complete and the restriction is lifted, everything — the app, the repository, full functionality — will be restored immediately. There’s no migration or reconfiguration needed on your end.

What You Should Do

Nothing. Seriously. Just hang tight. Once GitHub completes their review, the app will be back to normal and you can continue using it as before.

If you have questions or concerns in the meantime, you can reach out through:

I’ll post an update here once the issue is resolved. Thanks for your patience — and thanks for being part of the Bolt to GitHub community.
